Just don’t hook the pre-amp into a typical headphone integrated amp - another stage. I did consider the Freya+ pre-amp in front of a SS amp at one point.
My issue with many tube amps is that they don’t sound consistent from top to bottom. This is esp true for speaker amps. Preamps handling less power are not as prone to that which is why a tube or hybrid tube pre- amp before a SS amp is used by many unlike the opposite combo.
Another alternate is a class A true balanced FET pre-amp which tend to have lots of the attributes of a tubed unit but doesn’t need retubing - or consider a desktop headphone amp (really should call them “integrated amps”) using that technology.
Listening to alternates if possible would be best.
