the dub album of 2 seven clash is just too good

I've located a copy of the Yabbi Yu CD, I'll give my impressions ASAP.

I hope you heard the remastered extended version of Super Ape : HIPO

their copy of War Ina Babylon would also qualify as one of the best in my collection, and their george faith/black uhuru releases are also pretty mind blowing

but truly I think "unconquered people" and "true democracy" are some of the best roots reggae available. unconquered was recorded at tuff gong w/ marley's musicians, and it just sounds too good w/ the 3 IV guys singing on top

and this one is beyond words, as good as "war ina babylon" IMO :

hah it's not reggae, and it's not black uhuru either...without Puma Jones and Michael Rose, black uhuru does not exist

Sly & Robbie use Michael Rose impersonators(Junior Reid, etc), and release crap using the group commercial name(that they own)

I went to see them in 2001, and I also saw Michael Rose the year after....Junior Reid can't clash Mykael Roz

Have you listened to any Matisyahu. He is exactly reggae but he definitely has that vibe.
