I just did the 18.4.1 update on my 15 Pro and tested three different USB DACs and they all work fine.

I can only suggest perhaps try:

Settings - Sounds and Haptics - Headphone Safety - USB Audio Accessories - Forget All USB Audio Accessories.

Then try again.

Thnx. I should have been more clear. It works fine on an iPhone running 18.4.1. It doesn’t however work on an iPad. Once I upgraded to 18.4.1 dac stopped working. Thanks for showing those settings.

My USB DAC seems fine on my iPad mini running 18.4.1. But I worry that every update will break things. Could be the manufacturer of your device issues a firmware update, if it’s a common occurrence.

I just updated my iPad Mini 6 to 18.4.1 and tried it with the devices below and it was fine with all of them.

Dethonray Clarinet

It might help if we knew what DAC you are having problems with.

Its the Antelope Zeo. Two Questyles and an old Dragonfly work. The Zeo works with the iphone but not the pad. Also I had troubles with the Khadus Tea working with the ipad but that was before the upgrade and I THINK it had more to do with plugging in RCA to an amp and not a headphone.

Antelope is checking with the dev team and will get back to me.

It seems logical that if one device out of several doesn't work the issue is with that device rather than the iPad in a more general sense.

Of course it is probably a compatibility issue that involves both devices but talking with Apple is unlikely to get you anywhere

Good luck, at least you have other devices that are still working.

When I contacted them the guy said they get 2 calls a year on ipad which makes sense I suppose. The firmware updater couldn’t seem to find the dac :(.

Don’t know if this is your case, but some firmware updaters require Windows, and won’t work on a Mac - even if the update addresses iOS issues!
Yeah. It was on windows. Should have been more clear and they haven’t come up with a new firmware afaik. But it could be that they have a fix ages ago and I just didn’t see the update because the updater wouldn’t work.

@BS5711 forum is hassling me about “double posting” when I try hitting the reply button. Anyhow it is logical. But it was fine with 18.4. But moving to 18.4.1 broke it. So it was a change by apple. Sadly you are right about contacting them. Easier to date a super model…

iOS 18.4 and 18.4.1 for me. Don’t know about earlier versions because I only just bought the new HiBy FC5 (OLED) and I was already on 18.4.

But I get around it by not using a lightning to USB-C OTG cable. I get it to work using the Apple Camera Adaptor.

HiBy confirmed with me that it’s a iOS 18 compatibility issue that they will fix.

The issue likely stems from the 18.4.1 update. You can try restarting your device, checking for additional updates, or reinstalling the drivers for your DAC. If the problem persists, testing the DAC on another device might help identify the issue.

Sounds like a MFI issue. HiBy should be able to fix that.

Anybody remember when HiBy was primarily a custom software house for other DAP manufacturers?

I think I narrowed it down. The dac works with the ipad now. Apparently the usb-c hub doesn’t work with the new software with that dac. Other dacs work. But substituting another hub gets the non working dac to work now. Weird that a hub would not function.
