Anybody else own multiple pairs of the same IEM?

Please help me make a probably unnecessary online purchase!

I already own three pairs of Etymotics. One is an MC5 that I find quite uncomfortable relative to my MK5s — so just sit in a box. I own another pair of MK5s which have developed a weird buzzing sound sometimes — so are certainly on the way out. And I have another pair of MK5s on the way from eBay.

I'm thinking about buying ANOTHER pair but feel a little crazy for doing so.

HOWEVER, I have sound sensitivity and find Etymotics with triple flanges the only things that will block out external noise and allow me to concentrate. That's when there IS external noise to block out — if it's quiet enough I rather just work in silence.

Am I crazy for considering buying my fourth pair? I feel like it's an unjustifiable splurge but there's another part of me that thinks that Etymotics are good investments in productivity!

Buy the Etymotics er2. They use a micro dynamic driver, which way way less prone to failing compared to the Balanced Amature drivers in your old models.

If you go for that new model, I feel you are more justified to get another Ety.

Is the NRR the same, do you know?

I use my IEMs pretty much solely to either stream white noise or listen to Brain.fm. Ie, for noise isolation purposes.

If I want to listen to music, I use my Bluetooth headphones!

I have no clue. But the Studio er2 version is probably the same as that is the classic tuning.

The XR version is a new concept update.

I have like 6 pairs of Awei ES800. I have Betron YSM-1000 and KZ-ED which are essentially the same thing.

Also have two pairs of Senn PX-100-II. When I find something I like, I buy extras.

I am eyeing a second pair of ER4 because I use them for work (conference interpreter) and don't want to be caught off-guard.

I got multiple pair of MH755 given how cheap they are. Really good when your main iem just flew somewhere and you want to listen to music.

IMO not crazy to have a backup of something regularly used & important for daily tasks (so long as not going hungry to pay for it).

Higher price models like the ER2 and ER3 would ideally have better longevity - For instance my ER4P are at least 4 or 5 years old (got secondhand) and heavily used. Though the newer model lines haven't had the test of time yet (er2 cable feels slightly flimsy). On the other hand, you don't seem to have any use for the purported improvements in sound. Ever thought of trying custom tips, or even CIEM? Some people swear by them for comfort (though IME don't really isolate better than triflange).

I am crazy like that.
