are you saying you are already using the player at max volume already? are you using high impedance phone with your sony?

i suppose the cowon can go higher because it has a higher stock power outpout than the sony

There is no hack for the player,its 5x5 watts output,and is perfectly loud enough
As stated it sounds like its the headphones you are using that's the problem
I dont need to have mine louder than 15 with either philips 9600 or k81dj
It's plenty loud enough!

I'm using senn cx-500 , but It's not loud guys ! especially for the trance and techno music !

okay, the cx-500 is only 16ohm, so that shouldn't be a problem since i only listen at around 12 or so with my 25ohm UM1.

are you getting a good seal? these phones works the best when you block out background noises. try using a bigger sleeves that came with the package.

lastly your device (phone or sony) may be defective

no problem for device , the earphones getting seal perfectly in my ears , the problem is not loud for bassy music like trance ,techno ...

do you experience the same problem with all of your songs? or only a few. could it be that track is actually encoded such that the entire song is softer by some number of dB?

are you using MAX volume with your sony? does it have volume settings, like high or normal? have you got your hearing checked(im serious)?

I'm using at max volume.. but sometimes it's not loud for me , but when I using long time at max settings , my ears accommodate this max level

Either you're going deaf, or you have a fault MP3 player, let's hope for your sake it's the latter, it's definitely not normal to have to turn the volume to max using cx500's, even with an MP3 player that doesn't have very powerful output. Your music could have a really low volume, but that would be pretty odd for that to happen without you purposely doing it.

I think the music might just be encoded with a low level of volume.

That or you are going deaf, and you seriously need to watch your volume.

I'm using an A818 and CX300s, and I barely go past 10/30 on the volume scale.
