Done 28 reps with the HG200. Got my HG250 today. 12 reps, cold. Ripped a 180 page magazine in half, the hard way.. Then doubled the ripped half and tore it again in smaller pieces. I know there are phone book ripping tricks that allow anyone to do it.. Not what I'm looking for. Only seen one legit yellow pages phone book tear on Youtube. Disappointing really. My ego was rubbed today though. Seen a former manager at work today. When we shook hands he said I nearly killed him. His face grimaced a bit. He is a big guy and former bouncer and body guard. I'm just happy the hard work is paying off. I put myself through hell with my grip regime. I dread it, yet love it. Ripping gives me such a rush..

But I'm curious to know about the others who said they would give hand strengthening a try. Please tell me your progress it made on your other lifts that require a strong grip. Lat pull downs, pull ups, deadlifts.

DOH! Beat me to it. I too have worked very hard on my griping skills. I can piss and moan with the best of 'em.

Mr. Ice, I just gotta say I don't really get the purpose of your post since it seems less about asking people to post their progress and more about bragging about things you'd only hope to see in a cartoon.

I think it's pretty clear- he just wants to talk about weight training and gripping (not sure what that is). To be honest, I don't see any problem with his post. Lots of people start threads where the purpose of the thread is far less clear than this one is. How long did the thread "post what you bought" go on for? What was the point of that?

On the other hand, the passive/aggressive thread crapping is unnecessary, and really doesn't contribute anything positive.

3 weeks into my cut. Did dips for the first time in my life on Monday. Felt AWESOME!

There's nothing passive-aggressive about saying this thread is weird or even lame. I had no problem with the op's other thread specifically on weight training and gripping, so why start another that seems to be only about bragging about so being strong you made other man's hand hurt? If the op puts it out there in a thread, as long as members don't cross the line into personal insults, I think it's fair game to comment on the topic, be it in support or expressing distaste. I personally find it cartoonish and distastefully so. That's not thread crapping. It's commenting on the topic of this thread.

I've not seen the OPs original thread, so I have no specific comment on it, or how this relates to it. The OP saying that he's so strong he made the other man's hand hurt does seem a bit like bragging, but no one has actually commented on that aspect of it.

It's clear that the OP wanted to talk about weight lifting / training / gripping.

How is it that saying "This thread is lame! As you can see, I've gotten pretty good at griping." doesn't constitute thread crapping? Other than making a play on the OPs inaccurate use of the word "griping" versus "gripping" it has absolutely nothing to do with the OPs intent. How is it that sort of behaviour isn't considered a personal insult? Just because it's not direct, doesn't mean it's not intentionally insulting.

Further, those sorts of responses are passive aggressive by definition. The original definition of passive aggressive was used to describe soldiers who did their best to disobey their commanding officers by following a ridiculously narrow interpretation of their orders that they knew were different from what their commanding officer had desired. These responses are not obviously and directly off topic (e.g. responding with talking about pretzels), but they're also intentionally pushing the thread in a direction that the OP had not intended it to go. That is clearly passive aggressive behaviour as it applies to online forums.

How are those sorts of posts in any meaningful way on topic?

There is a huge double standard here with what behaviour is considered acceptable and unacceptable depending on who posts it.

i agree that this thread was probably not necessary in light of the previous by the OP. a simple update to that thread would have sufficed.

however, the below is spot on.

I think this thread is stupid as is intentionally squeezing someone's hand to cause them undue pain. And for someone to get an ego stroke from that action is repulsive and speaks very well of their character. Is that direct enough for you?
