Been thinking of getting full sized headphones for home use would prefer closed headphones. Have SE530 but lately they seem lacking especially in highs and lows since I have installed Image Dynamics system in the car. Any Headphones in the $1-300 range (rather not spend $300 if possible) that are better than the SE530's. Currently have pa2v2 amp that I use with the IEM's not sure if strong enough for full sized headphones.

Considerations:
HD555 possible mod to HD595 at $80 seem good value
Shure SRH840 $150 seem good value
HD600 used hate to spend $300+ tho

Music:
indie
celtic
vocals
classical

For what it's worth, I own a pair of Ultimate Ears TripleFi IEMs and ATH M50 cans. Many seem to prefer the 530s to the TripleFi, but they are both top of the line 3-driver IEMs, so I believe my comparison will be fairly accurate.

I can say with confidence that even my ATH M50s, costing only a 100 bucks, are better than my tf10s. The bass isn't as pronounced, but its clearer and more natural. The mids are much more present. Most importantly, the soundstage is a lot larger. I think any good headphones you pick up around 200 will be vastly superior in this regard. Separation of instruments and soundstage are probably going to be your most noticeable changes.

On that note, I recommend you consider the ATH m50s, because at their price, they are an excellent deal.

The SE530s own the M50s in every category imaginable.  Their soundstage is even bigger for cryin' out loud!

I'd get the HD600s.  They're similar enough to my HD650s which are neck and neck with my SE530s except for the soundstage where the 650s win by landslide.
