You think that is awesome, I've got some losless files of the Yoko Kanno + the Seatbelts live performance of Cowboy Bebop tunes at Shibuya, those are incredibly awesome!
Anything by Kanno is golden. Macross Plus, Escaflowne, Sousei no Aquarion, Cowboy Bebop, Earth Girl Arjuna, Wolf's Rain (although this is her weakest effort), Brain Powered, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, 2nd Gig, and Solid State Society, Turn A Gundam (which absolutely freaking ROCKS - this is THE Kanno OST to have asides from Bebop and Escaflowne) , and Please Save my Earth.....those are just the ones that _ I _ own. If any of you are in europe, check out the broadcast of a current kids' show, Oban Star racers. The OP was composed by Kanno as well.
Yuki Kajiura was pretty good with Noir (one of my favs) and .hack//sign, but honestly, as she became the next big thing in videogame/anime score composition, she got bland. Noir, .hack, Madlax are all standout, but everything else she did between then and 2005 sounded like she was mailing it in. However, last year and this year's OSTs for Tsubasa Chronicle are really good.
One composer I really like that always gets overlooked is Kohei Tanaka. He wrote the score for Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th Mobile Suit Team, among others. If you can find the 08th MS Team ost called "Recorded in PLAHA", get it. Its hard to find now, and I think it's the best anime ost EVER. It was recorded by the Czech Philharmonic, and features two songs with Chihiro Yonekura (who did all the vocal tracks in the show, including the OP and ED) singing with the orchaestra.
