Is there a decent CD player I can get in the sub-$250 range? Preferably around $199, $250 max. To be used with Little Dot I+ and Grado RS-1 I know its a tall order... if ther are no suggestions I might go for a used Marantz CD-5001

There are a lot of people that use the Marantz CD5001 it is quite a nice player with a good headphone out and analog out. I think you can find them refurbished for around 200$ or for sale on this forum or audiogon for less.

That's a terrific player. They sold for around $300 new, so finding one used in your budget shouldn't be any trouble. Another great used CD player is the original Rega Planet. I've got one that I've had for a few years and I still can't bring myself to sell. It sounds good and I'm nuts about the cast aluminum case.

Another I've liked was the Sony SCD-CE595. They're available cheap - like under $100 - and sound very good for the price. I used one until I got the SA8001, but the SCD-CE595 went to the place in Arizona. Still works and sounds great.

I haven't heard one, but a lot of people like the Oppo players. You should pull up some reviews and give them some thought.

Refurbished CD5001s shows up on accesories4less from time to time. I snagged one a few weeks ago and I like it. They also carry the CC4001 (5 disc changer; same DAC; also has a headphone out), which I'm thinking about for my living room/family setup for $150. Good customer service as well.

For 30 extra usd you can get a brand new NAD C-515BEE, an excellent choice if you can't find the Marantz.

+1 Either that or the 5001 would be a great choice.
