My quest for upgrades ended with the purchase of an HD650 and iBasso D10. I feel the SQ is fantastic and that there is not much room for improvement. Of course I might spring for an HD800 in the future... but it is out of my price range for now, I cannot justify spending $1,400 on a headphone: that's more than what I've spent on all the gear I have now. But once they drop below the $1K mark then I may consider it.

Anyway I agree this is an addictive hobby

Luckily for me it did not take long to find the headphone that gave the qualities I was looking for.

Holy Sh**

I agree with you 100%!!!!

I recently came to this conclusion and sold all my audio kit.

After 100's of hours research and deliberation, my current system
gives me pleasure I've only dreamt of:

Ipod Touch > BOSE Triports + £10 of crack each day.

Now I just know you're going to say that the SQ I'm feeling is down to
the Triports but you are so wrong! I realize now that head-fi is basically
a community for crack-heads. Yes, I know I'm slow....
frown.gif

All this time I've been buying to equipment recommended by highly
respected head-fiers...waiting to hear the :

extended, tight, controlled bass
sweet velvet mids
sparkling, non-fatiguing highs

Little did I know that the missing ingredient was crack-cocaine!!!

And to think I thought the Edition 9's were great!

You guys! (sniff)

Came to head-fi in search of replacement ear pads for my hd-280 pros. Now I have hd650's going to a upgraded zero dac to a darkvoice 3322 with a couple different sets of tubes. It happens...

LOL nice. I'm about to take the plunge on a new DAC, Gilmore Lite AMP and some HD-650s. This is like a grand worth of equipment.

I joined to find some new earbuds for my ipod... 6 months later:

- Sennheiser HD555
- Etymotic ER6i
- Alessandro MS-1
- Little Dot MK III
- Beyer DT770 Pro-250ohm

On the way:

- New DAC
- Interconnect cables

*sigh*

Its not bad till you think that hear and improvement by upgrading your POWER CABLE. 100ft of plain 16 gauge copper from the fuse box, but that last 4ft/$200 makes all the deference

So far, in the last year I've had:

Iriver H320
Iriver H340
Iaudio X5
Various IEM's
Ultrasone 650
Ultrasone 750
Ultrasone Edition 9's
Meier Audio Head Six
Graham Slee Voyager
Triad Audio Lisa XP
Graham Slee Solo with PSU1
Graham Slee modded Solo
Rudistor NX-02
Oppo DV-980H
Audioquest Jaguar IC's
Stevenkelby custom cable
Nordost Red Dawn IC's
Cambridge Audio DacMagic

Haven't purchased anything for a while because I'm happy with the
current set-up but the Rudistor RPX-33 is on the horizon.

Would love to know about your impressions on the AD2000s. Apparently the AD2000s aren't just simple upgrades from the AD900s, unlike the upgrade from AD700 --> AD900. Would be nice to know what you think!

Just ordered myself a PA2V2. FiiO E5 in the mail. Then, iPhone LOD, recabling my MS1000, woody enclosure and I'm set for my first portable set up. Maybe I'll even get another set of MS-1 with bowls and get that recabled just for a "beater".

Then, tube amp, preamp and all that fun stuff for my MS1000 for home listening.

I stumbled here looking for speakers for my TV setup and so far in the last year I've bought:

1- Sennheiser HD595
2- Then I figure I might as well get an amp... Little Dot MK3
3- Shortly after, might as well get a DAC too... Beresford TC7510
4- Then I got IEMs from Head-Direct
5- Decided to upgrade to the HD650s
6- Bought 4 sets of different tubes
7- Just recently I got a cable upgrade for my Senns
8- Now I am going to spend a decent chunk of change to get a custom DAC built by a head-fier

Note: I thought I was done at the third one...

Now I am contemplating saving money for the HD800s and/or going balanced and upgrading my AMP.

DAMN YOU HEAD-FI!

In reality I am glad I found this forum, I found a hobby on top of a huge hobby of mine, listening to music. It just enhances the experience to have better equipment so I find it well worth the money.
