Hey folks,
I've had my W1000X for about a month, and I think that the sound is an excellent direction for me. However, now I'm at a crossroads with my amplification decision.
I want to spend no more than $500.
I'm looking for warmth and tubes. I had a Melos for a while and loved experimenting with various tubes.
It would be fantastic if the amp could drive both these (low impedance) and be relatively future proof for any high impedance headphones down the road.
Firstly, like anyone else right now, I'm looking at the Lyr. Overkill, given the power it outputs? Probably. But I do know that Audio Technicas love power, and it seems like this might be the best option for longterm flexibility.
I've also been checking out:
Woo Audio 3, but it seems like it's much better suited for only high-impedance headphones.
Little Country 3, but there isn't a ton of really solid information that I can find, and what I have seen suggests it takes a very very long time to warm up properly. Love the design, but not thrilled about the 1/8" jack.
So, what do people think? Anyone have a favorite?
