Hi all,

My ASG 1.2's are on its way now and I was wondering should I get an amp for it? I have an iPod Classic and Cowon S9 but I think the ASG 1.2 will benefit with an amp.
The size shouldn't be bigger than the Classic by much.

Which amp/dac should I get?

Thank you,
Leon

It's wonderful already even plugged straight to DAP but sure DAC/amp will improve it. Try it first plugged directly, if you find some areas are lacking or you want to improve, then look for an amp

Note that if you use ipod/cowon you can't use an external DAC, it's still possible with ipod but it has to be it's compatible with you ipod like CLAS/Fostex HP-P1

Hi and thank you for your reply.

Once I receive them I will check if anything is lacking but from what I have read so far I hear the highs are quite lacking.
Any recommendations on amps with good highs with harshness?

Thanks,

Sorry i haven't tried it with many amp, i only tested it with a DACport and it's sounds lovely ( makes the bass tighter/punchier, more forward sounding and more forward mids - high )

Have you gotten these yet? I just ordered a pair and will be using them with a few different rigs, including a rockboxed clip zip, headstage arrow 3G + iPod, and my Audio GD NFB 12.1.

Let me know if you decide to get an amp/dac. I'd highly recommend the Arrow, but if you've got a low budget Headroom is having a killer sale on their Total Airhead amp for half price ($49)

My options are now the Arrow 4G or the TTVJ Slim...

I'll have to say the Arrow 4G is a near perfect match with my iPod Classic. Matching slim line size, excellent battery life, many features, sound presentation is relative neutral, with a hint towards being more warm than the opposite. Only problem is that there can be a relative long wait to receive the Arrow 4G, I think..

Why a long wait? And does it synergize well with the ASG 1.2?

Well, I guess we have just entered November where Rob will ship out new batches of the Arrow and it then takes up to two weeks or more for the Arrow to arrive. Sorry, I haven't heard the ASG 1.2. so I don't know how well the Arrow will synergize with these.
