Hmm... I don't really know, to be honest. But in my experience, the DAC in the Zero is comparable(arguably better, especially after "tweaking") to anything else at that price point, yet it includes a decent amp as well.

i'm intending to upgrade my desktop rig. prolly getting speakers in the $800~$1000 range. dya think the zero would go well with that or should I get a dac or amp of a better grade?
