Am I the only one that encloses remotes in plastic?!

My Japanese grandfather uses a clear rubber cover on his keyboard (even when typing) and white cloth lining on his car seats, so yeah it's not very "uncommon" among Asians.

But I myself don't enclose remotes in plastic. They're replaceable, so why the bother

The bare metal plating feels good too.

I should cover my keyboard/ It collects so much dust and other crap and is hard to clean even with the air compressor.

I keep my ms1 hanging vertically so it doesn't collect dust in the driver and I always put screen protectors on my DAPs but but other than that I don't do much

My brother in law keeps the trunk of his car wrapped with blankets "to keep resale value high". Me....I bought it so i'm going to use it! One thing to think about by wrapping your remote in plastic is to be careful of any moisture getting inside and the plastic acting as a mini greenhouse. Moisture will kill electronics faster than anything else. At least when you throw it out it will look mint

I don't like the feel/look of equipments in plastic. that's why I am not wrapping them..

Personally, I found it to be annoying to use something that has been rapped plastic.

My rationale is that I want the equipment to last and look mint for as long as I keep the gear. I hate seeing fingerprints on quality equipment. So all my electronic equipment, even old gear, looks like the day I took them out of the box. My friends and family tell me i'm nuts, but i'm 'normal' in all other respects (I don't compulsively wash my hands or doorknobs, etc.)!

This kind of reminds me of people whose living room couches are covered in PLASTIC back in the 60's and 70's!!!

Anyone else out there like me???

Nope, but two things come to mind:

1. I have a friend that never removes the plastic film from the displays of things he buys, like cell phones, DAPs, etc... If it comes with the film, he leaves it on there.

2. If you ever consider selling your stuff, PM me first.

I do that but only the plastic over the remotes. This is due to the fact that I eat with my hands as opposed to using utensils (Us islander folk use our hands). So say, I'm eating and watching TV, I can lower the volume if I have to answer the phone, without getting food on the electronics(directly). Its easier to clean up afterward.

That's the first time I ever heard of such thing. So this pratice of plastic over remotes is common among islanders? Or just eating with hands? This is very interesting.

I do, all my remotes are plastic covered, i use to get small plastic bags, usually from umbrellas, canes, cables, etc... and wrap them leaving the remote sensor our though an small hole...you can not beleive after 5 years how they are in mint condition, trust me on that....
