I thought there wasn't much difference between my on-board soundcard ALC655 and my Schiit Modi/Magni.

Anyone else out there that share the same thought?

According to Realtek's site, the ALC655 provides 50mW into 20 ohm. That may be 16mW into 60 ohm which would be enough for over 100 dbSPL on the K701s.

What audio are you using to test the sound quality?
Tried using Foobar2000 for music?
