The fxt90 seems like a very good pair of iems. I read a thread on them today and someone claimed that they're 90% of the fx700 in terms of SQ.
your son a is very lucky man to have a dad like yourself!

Very glad to hear it!![]()
Well I found that you really need some bi or triple flange tips for the IE7/8/80's - I guess its ear dependant, but well, for me, without them I had no bass, and bad isolation.
My ears can't stand the bi/triple flange tips - they literally feel like they are ripping my ears.
Apart from that, I found the IE7/8's bass light (if you can imagine how bas heavy my TFTA 1XB's are...)
That said, your not really looking for bass from what I gather, and want it for classical music, for this, the IE8's and 7's shined in that area, due to their HUGE sound stage - give them IE80's some burn-in and then you'll start turning your head asking: "was there someone playing violin behind me or something!?"
They are also driven easily, as you noted - I never had a problem with them. TFTA's get driven even easier than them still.
You'll now understand that fit is one of, if now the, most important factor in IEM's - if you have excellent earphones, but terrible fit, they will sound terrible, worse than a set of £5 earphones.
The more expensive you get, generally speaking, the more the fit is important ie. customs
And the EX600's I THINK have pretty much the same nozzle, possibly a little thinner than the IE80's no?
IE7/8(80s) are not deep-fit IEMs. As a result, isolation is rather mediocre.

That's why when you say they have no bass I know you have fit issues. They IE80s and IE7s have lots of bass. Too much more and it would just be boomy unrefined farts lol.
With a good seal by the bi-flange tips for me, the IE80 provides much better isolation than the IE600.
The IE80 arrived. It was apparently in the mail box for a few hrs waiting for me.
The fit is like a charm - comfortable and perfect. Isn't this is the natural way all these IEM's should have been designed to fit?
I didn't bother to burn in and quickly put it to test. The sound signature is what I expected: warm and natural, yet with details. The sound stage is excellent. The default bass is just about right for me.The highs are smoothy. I think the IE80 are excellent for classical music.
I am VERY happy with the purchase.

Well, I am not an active poster and dont pretend to have tried many headphones but have some xears TDIII and Yuin P3's and of course Apple buds. The lack of mic saw me looking for some cheap phones with a mic to use with my phone, so I read this thread with interest. So I took a punt and for £8 bought the blackberry headset mentioned and I am very impressed!!!! These have be excellent value for anyone looking for good sound and a mic. Right out of the box they are not far off the PK's (not quite as much bass) but they are very impressive and much better than the Apple and other cheapo buds I used to have before I descovered this forum. Bass is good, treble is better than the Yuins and no distortion. They are now going to be burned in overnight and we will see if they get even better. (I cant believe I am burning in a pair of $10 buds!) but they are good. As the origional poster put in his first post - No I dont think you are bad at identifying sound quality because these Blackberry buds are really good. I bet they are made by a big name. I have some other Blackberry buds that are not silver coloured and they sound awful!
