Bassmode + EQ. You can get decent bass out of them. Not super.fi 5 EB or fx-500 bass, but I actually found them to be more EQable than my super.fi 5 pros.

A good amp is the best way for your iM716 to shine. However, if you don't have to money to invest into amp right now, try getting a US$9 FiiO E3. It won't have enough juice to power iM716 to its best, but at least it will give you a stronger bass response.

If you take the pod out and use resistors instead (you can get good bass with 47-56 ohm resistors), the overall sound (including the bass) gets noticeably better.
Here's the thread:

It can be a seal issue as well, I found that I need perfect seal, with deep insertion to get a good bass impact (I use Comply foams, they are very comfortable, and give a lot better seal than ordinary foams IMHO).
Using an amp, the bass is tight and textured, but the IM716 is not an earphone for bassheads.

Like everyone said you should give it another shot with an inexpensive amp like the Fiio. The Fiio only cost like 15 bucks. I cannot listen to the iM716 without an amp... the sound is thin and the soundstage is super small width wise (sounds like a hallway) on my iA7.

Just try the FiiO E3, it's cheap and I promise it will make a big improvement... Also, experiment with the seal, and give the 'phones a week or two of listening, and after that, I think you'll find that Porta Pro has very bloated bass, and that the iM716 has much tighter, punchier bass.

Thanks for the comments. Anyway I think I will try something else, something that can work with and without an amp. I have an amp already but many times I can't carry it with me.

thanks to all

I still do not have the required 50 posts to place the FS add in the Sales forum.
Is there any other way to post there?
