Looks like they have a built in amp, are wired for sound, but the Amps have dsp eq capabilities that are transmitted to the phones via Bluetooth from an app.

I had a chance to try it today.  Impressive sound to say the least.  Bass you can actually "feel" as if you are in a car with a subwoofer.  A bit muddy.  High and Mid are attainable via the Level Play companion App (which only works with musics on your device, not Spotify, Pandora, or any type of streaming source).  Quite comfortable and light weight.  This thing can puts out a thump.  Dubstep shines with these cans.  The design isn't my cup of tea.  The diamond shape ear cups and some shiny fake metal are a bit "chick-ish".  They are NOT wireless cans although you'd need to use Bluetooth to pair with the Level Play App as it "sends" audio enhancement via Bluetooth.  If you like thumping bass that you can actually "feel", these cans are impressive.
