Alpha Design Labs (Furutech) EH-008 In-ear Monitors

First impressions. A comfy and smooth sound, but they certainly lack the phenomenally airy, detailed and clear presentation of Fischer Audio DBA-002MkII. The bass amount is not exagerated, but it seems a little bit boomy with the biggest tips provided while the middle ones and the smallest don't seal enough in my case. Probably I should change the stock tips as the sound ir very dependent on proper isolation. You mentioned T-400 foams at the beginning of this thread. Do they help to adapt the bass and get the most from these IEMs? I tried foams stocked with Shure SE535 and wasn't pacticularly impressed, maybe because I don't like Shure itself.

It's a sacrifice of more musicality and listening pleasure for less airiness and detail.

I find it decent with the T400s but I don't remember what they sounded like with stock tips, sorry.

Listening with brand new T-400 foam tips. Comparing to my experience with the stock tips bass now seems to be better controlled and its amount is a little bit reduced. That's a good thing as lower frequencies occasionally used to become slightly overwhelming.

It's great that you like them more now! I've always liked the sound of them with the T400s and my portable rig.

They are gradually starting to grow on me. It's clearly less fatiguing and in long term more pleasure giving listen than my bright and a little bit thin sounding Fischers. May I ask you what do you use as portable player? Mine is Astell & Kern AK100.

Nice, pleasant and smooth sound, right? It's why I fell in love with them in the first place. It's the type of sound signature I prefer!

Anyways, I use a DX50 into a 627 MICRO amp and it's the perfect combination of glorious smoothness.

Longer summary of my impressions on these IEMs:

The bass was a little muddy and boomy with the stock rubber tips until I swapped in the Comply T-400 foamies after which they tightened up nicely and give just the right amount of kick and rumble for my tastes without being too boomy. The mid-range is so smooth and effortless, rather reminiscent of an ortho mid-range actually, and gives the music a lush and rich character that I find myself enjoying. The treble is smooth and non-peaky enough to not cause much fatigue when I use these yet has enough details in it to keep me interested in the music.

Sound-staging is surprisingly big for an IEM and positioning is decent too. Won't really be comparable to full-sized headphones of course for but an IEM it's rather impressive. Also, it's a dual dynamic driver IEM but I can't even tell where the crossover point is when I listen to music, so if I didn't know if it was a dual-driver IEM via research I would've never suspected!

Overall, they have a warm, smooth and comfy sound signature that drew me in and made me take out my wallet real quick after listening to them in the local Jaben. They also kicked out multiple more expensive IEMs which I compared these to (and not just because of the price either) such as the UE-900 and SM64. They cost me ~$200 and compete quite nicely in that price range and subjectively, beyond it too. Just try and audition it first (or abuse a return policy

) because they come with a rubber ring around the chassis of the IEM and that might cause discomfort. Also, you can only go so far with $200 and when compared to the YH-1 at my desk the differences are quite apparent so watch out!

It seems that there's three of us using EH-008 according to the thread

I never had a chance to compare this product with DUNU-1000 though they're in similar price range. Has anyone tried both? BucketInABucket have you managed to take plastic-rubber seal eventually? It really hurts my ears but I'm afraid to brake it

Nah, haven't tried the DN-1000s, sorry. Also, I haven't managed to at all because they just won't come off at all with the strength I used and like you, I'm scared to break them

I still love their sound signature though!

The A71s are certainly a lot more prolific than these IEMs! I haven't heard those however so there's nothing useful from me unfortunately!

These pair very well with the Lotoo PAW Gold, but just like everyone else has said... the silicone "flippers" around that outer sealing leave a lot to be desired.  I've had caps blown against strong, gushing winds stay on better.
