yeah, higher number, newer, or 'now digital' ....always better
How can it be digital if it is a 3?

it has to be a 1 or a 0. We all know that!

ahhhh....it must only affect the analogue stage/implementation.
(I answered my own question)

Haha, we all have to wait. But I think dac3 will sound better...

I use Youtube and Google music frequently. I want to get ride of my noisy laptop and use a streamer.

Was tempted to buy the Primare NP5 because of google chromecast. Room is holding me back because of extra cost and no youtube integration. Volumio is maybe a good option.

What do you guys use?

I'm using Cat8.1 from the glassfiber modem to the ISP router, CAT8.1 to the first switch with SFP and duplex glassfiber to the second switch with SFP then CAt8.1 from switch to computer, running Daphile RT OS on an AMD 5 with 8Gb Apacer ECC RAM, SSD separately fed by LPS, Pink Faun IS2 out into a Metrum NOS Amethyst DAC.

Yesterday I received my Ambre. Fast delivery by DHL and very well packaged. It will pair with my Onix on IS2 connection. Even without burn in the result was fantastic. I used a super computer with a Pink Faun IS2 card. Ambre is superior. Greater background silence, more naturalness, well-defined voices. I really liked it. I hope it gets even better with 100h of burning. The next step is to upgrade the DAC module in Onix.

Thanks! Interesting, I learned that the PF I2S card has issues with Intel CPU's/MB, the PF card did not work in my NUC. Good for you!

Yes. There were conflicts between processor, motherboard and PCI. It was incompatible with Linux, I couldn't use Roon and HQP simultaneously. The card was only compatible with resolutions of 96Khz. It wasn't Bit Perfect. Although it is an extraordinary machine, I will sell it and stay in PCM and NOS territory. My idea is to simplify. And Metrum delivers a fantastic solution for the price.

I plan on staying with NOS and PCM too, yet I need the I2S out of my computer...Mine seems to work fine with an AMD 5 and Daphile (Linux based) and AudioLinux, though I need quite a few attempts to boor now and then.

I have just had a really lovely evening listening to music through my main system:

Server > Ethernet > Metrum Ambre > AES > Metrum Adagio > XLR > Metrum Forte > Speakers

Just wonderful.

The components just sound spectacular as a whole, Cees really is an alchemist.

I am looking forward to the release of the Transient 3 DAC modules; I shall definitely be upgrading my Adagio with those.

My main focus at the moment is my headphone system. This consists of:

Auralic Aries Mini > SPDIF Coax > Metrum Musette (Upgraded Transient 2 DAC modules) > RCA > Metrum Aurix > AudioQuest NightHawk Carbon

My current thinking is broadly along the lines of:

1. Replace the Auralic Aries Mini with a Metrum Ambre
2. Replace the Metrum Musette with either: Metrum Onyx, Metrum Pavane or Schiit Audio Yggdrassil
3. Replace the Metrum Aurix. The problem is for what? I like the look of tube HPAs so perhaps one from Feliks Audio (Elise or Euphoria) or the LDA MicroZOTL MZ3

Constructive thoughts on the three points above?

Many Thanks
