Though the cracking / defective cord / cable / wire issue of Shure e500 and se530 have be discussed ad nauseum at this site. I'm curious to see if its possible to narrow down the production dates of the most problematic units.
So if you have the date code from a unit you sent in for warrantee service, ([size=medium]or of one you are about to send in[/size]) add a thread to this post and share your date code.
The date code:
A posting by Ronin74 states "...the date code is printed on the Y-connector, a 4-digit code, e.g. 2456 = manufactered on the 245th day of 2006."
Here is a link a to TimeandDate.com's day counter.
Calculator: Add to or subtract from a date
0=January 1
See below for codes and dates already sited.
I imagine the original box that a defective unit came in would also have a date or a date code on it somewhere, not really sure though. If you still have it, and you find a date, post it here.
I wonder if, those of you who have had to return your buds more than once have been exchanging units made on the same dates.
Polling at this site is limited to 10 units, so that is why the poll here is limited to the season and year the earphone was made.
Broken cords only please. Trying to find a pattern.
