Hi everyone,
This is my first post!
My current headphones just broke and I am looking for a pair that will keep me happy for a few years! I am very careful with any material, rarely sit on it and almost never let them fall.
My headphones will be used for everything, I spend quite a lot of time on the computer so confort is a must.
I listen to all types of music and do appreciate it in a way that most don't: I like a detailed sound whether I'm listening to some Chopin, some hip hop, pop or rock.
I am also quite the gamer (mainly first person shooter), and find "positional" or "directional" sense is important; in other words I would like to be able to pinpoint exactly where my enemy is by using only sound. *This is quite important, and probably the most important feature I am looking for, but I am not willing to lose quality*
Otherwise, I listen to music, watch films, do some editing of my own and game, this is why I need a decent pair of headphones.
The headphones I had (well I am still using them, but only one of the earpieces work) are the Steelseries 5hv2, which sounded like a good "gamer" choice at the time, but I have learnt that anything that has the "gamer" tag added to it, is a simple way of ripping off ignorant players. If you look around, many people have got the same problem with this model.
In terms of microphone, obviously it would be nice to have a built-in microphone but it's not a must as I can get a simple cheap one anywhere.
These are my current inclinations, sennheiser hd series or the PC350, but these are choices that I got from gaming forums etc, which are mainly commented by people which don't have much knowledge about sound itself, thus bringing me here, to where the users actually know what they are talking about!
These are just the headphones I had in mind, but please do tell me these ones are bad and to choose others, as I myself don't know much about all the maked and models, and to be honest haven't had any "proper" headphone.
I will be connecting my headphones to my on-board sound card (SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD), and to be honest I am not willing/able to buy something else to make the sound better.
It would be appreciated if you could comment on personal experiences and comparison.
My budget is up to 150€.
Sorry for the lengthy post, but I find that if I can be precise on what I want, I get the responses I am looking for!
Cheers.
