Alclair RSM Quad Custom In-Ear Monitor Impressions Thread [ These are REALLY worth checking out ]

No, just read reviews and impressions. It seems like a good fit for what I'm looking for.

From what I understand, I could get the RSM. Then if I wanted the 8 driver, I would just pay the difference and trade in the RSM?

It appears Alclair is offering upgrades from one model to the next.  I don't know how long they will continue to do that but it sure is a sweet deal.

After thinking, why not give the RSM a try? You should hear how good a sub-$1k CIEM can sound.

Hahaha, at least I sent you my Grados, they are fairly close in the clarity department:wink:.

I am enjoying them. I learned from a Grado expert here at work that your Grados are the newer version. I find Grado's history very interesting.

Hopefully Marc will be the next Joe Grado. They have similar sonic goals, at least IMO, excellent performance and value for the consumers investment.

Hey guys,
Do the cables make a big difference? I'm getting an Reference, but my setup is nowhere near high end, so is it worth it to think about cables at this point? If so, any economic options you guys recommend?
Thanks!

I know the copper cable from Forza Audio Works improves the sound of the RSM.  It's rather affordable (to some) at ~$110.00 though shipping could add another $30 to $40.

I would save your dollars for an upgrade to the RSM.  If you spent $100, or $150, on an aftermarket cable, that would bring your total investment to $499, or $549, if you didn't include any artwork.  For $150 or so more dollars you would be in RSM territory.  The difference between the Reference and the RSM is greater than the difference an aftermarket cable would bring imo.

I would suggest listening to the Reference for a while using the stock cable.  See how much you like it.  The upgrade bug might get you

Has anyone compared these directly to the Noble K10?

The Review from the Polish Audio Journal mentioned a few posts back. He reported that the RSM was equal to the K10, just different, lush (K10) and neutral (RSM). On my cell or I would add the link, but a complete translation is in this Thread, about two months ago.

I'm using a Norne Audio Vorpal 8 Wire on my RSM, very good combination.
