Opeth - Damnation & Deliverance

Or, at least they show off Grados fairly well with all those acoustic guitars.

-Hell Freezes Over-Eagles Live
-Moving Pictures (Remastered)-Rush
-Unplugged in New York- Nirvana
-Live at the Royal Festival Hall-Dizzy Gillespie and the United Nations Orchestra
-Classic Wynton-Wynton Marsalis

I could go on, but I usually use these as some of my 'reference pieces'. I know them all so well I will often put them in when doing comparison testing...

x2 for the Eagles' Hell Freezes Over!
Eagles Hotel California, the title song in particular, surrised me a lot when I got my K701s - more sounds there than I ever thought was there!
Deep Purple early to mid-70s recordings also benefited greatly.
Metallica - not so much, overall sound of course gets better, range, fullness, bass and all, but they don't seem to have on their recordings much in the details or soundstage department...
All Pink Floyd CDs, of course.
David Bowie "David Live".
Charlie Parker "With Strings".

Morph The Cat by Donald Fagen.
Even better SQ wise than The Nightfly, (which is amazing), and incorporates the newer 'Dan sound as well.

My new reference CD when testing equipment.

Nowhere near the genres you were after, but...

I Love Everybody by Lyle Lovett makes my Grado/Mapletree combo sound amazing. Song quality is variable (it is a sort of lost songs compilation I think) but my god, it is well recorded!

Oh, and somebody here once listed Lyle Lovett as their guilty pleasure. I second that...

A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step
Green Carnation - The Acoustic Verses

Both have a very clear sound which suits me very good. Thirteenth Step has also got very impressive bass.
