Hi all headphile,

im new here, firstly i want to apologize if my english is bad, because its not my first language..

i want to ask some advice from Veteran/Advance headphone user about my question, between AKG Q701 and Dt990 (32ohm), i believe both is semi open headphone. Which is better for me? Currently im using Audio Technica A900x , i love it because of the sound detail and wide soundstage for a close can. But recently im thinking wanna try semi open headphone , im listening to all genre but more to eletronic rock and i love classic rock song. I found these headphone sell at a small different in price in my place. Im using O2 amp right now with pcm 2704 dac. I like the design of Q701 but looking at dt990 velour makes me drool cause a900x using some pleather pad and its getting warm after some time..maybe you guys can guide me on which one should i buy.

What is your source? Windows PC? are you using Foobar2000 to play audio files?
(I own the ATH-A900X and the DT990 Pro 250-Ohm and DT990 Premium 600-Ohm)

I really like the audio quality of my ATH-A900X headphones, so I'm not sure you would hear much improvement in over all sound quality using the Q701 and DT990 (32-Ohm).
I would guess the Q701 might offer a better mid range and sound stage over the A900X.
The DT990 are more full bass and full treble, slightly over shadows the mids, but the mids are clear.
I'm going to make a guess(?) that the Q701 would be a better choice, over the DT990, for music audio.

The O2 (Objective 2) should easily drive the 62-Ohm Q701s.

I you wanted to make a noticeable improvement/change to audio quality of the Q701 over the current O2,
I would think you would want to spend $250 for a Little Dot MKIII tube amp.

I didn't like the AKG K701's but for classical and rock i guess they're better than the DT990's.

I would recommend Grado's for rock though, they're one of the best at these kinds of genres.

32o Dt series are not recommended,PC with a not expensive dac or soundcard can let a 250o dt880 not make bad sound.990 maybe same as it.And I would rather buy a 701,good looking.Good with pop than 990,I think.
Btw,I'm not good at english as well, hope i didn't say some stupid wrong

As the Samson SR850 (made by Superlux) is a Chinese knock off of the AKG K240 series,
I'm going to guess(?) the Q701 and SR850 are similar "type" of sound, but the Q701 just does everything (quality wise) better.
