AKG N40

Sadly, I bought it from here.

Well with Paypal or most payment methods there is a return time.

I strongly recommend you should also email AKG. They may not be able to help, but you never know. I emailed them once over replacement cables with either N40 or N5005; can't remember which. I found the reply to be very helpful. No bad attitude, and fully open with me.

Good luck with it all.

Well...now I paired it with a copper cable, and the brightness within tolerance level. I actually love it a lot now. When I checked its review, it did say that the highs can be harsh if paired with a mobile phone, guess that's the reason.

Oh yeah, the N40s definitely need a little extra power. Headphone/IEM manufacturers should really list the amount of power needed for something to sound good to prevent people from trying to run them on the bare minimum.

I've got the N40s with a 2.5mm FiiO MMCX cable. I had to sand the edge down on the cable just a smidge to get it to fit the IEM properly, but it works like a charm. I'm thinking about buying a 4.4mm balanced since all of these DAC/amps and even my Walkman seem to be dropping the 2.5mm balanced port for a pentacon one.

My right earpiece on my beloved N40s has developed a fault:disappointed:. I wonder if anyone here has a right one they can sell or, perhaps in need of a left one as it will be useless to me otherwise?

Bit obvious have you tried changing the cable?

Thanks all for the tips. However, the fault manifested itself in the earpiece breaking at the base of the tube.

Was a known fault with the initial production run, not that it helps you. Shame as the IEM has a very decent sound.
