I want to replace my computer headphones Senn. HD500.

I've got K81s for use with mp3 player and they sound so much better than HD500s. I have audigy2 zs and don't plan to upgrade soundcard ATM or buy an amp. I listen to electronica mainly.

Anyway while reading this forum and that HUGE pdf file with closed phones comparisons I came to conclusion that A900 is ideal choice for me. Logically A900 should sound a lot better than K81DJ considering price difference BUT because I am a basshead I need to know how they compare in terms of bass. Things like how deep they go, quality of bass, amount of bass etc. Do they have similar sound signature?

Which headphone makes you go

?

are the DT880, but the A900 get pretty close. I've never actually hear a pair, but I heard that the bass is very punchy and light.

Aren't DT770pro better in that aspect? I don't think 250ohm headphones would run that great out of my audigy2 zs.

I know there are headphones with much better bass than A900, I just want K81DJ level of bass (at least) on my computer since Sennheiser HD500 are crap. Can A900 provide that?

I have the dt770/80. They run pretty fine straight out of my on-board audio, no amp;0

I don't know why some people say the A900 is bass heavy, because mine sure as hell isn't. If you compare the A900 to an anemic headphone like the K501 then they're bass monsters, but otherwise I just don't understand. I don't see the A900 pleasing a basshead at all.. the bass on the A900 is solid and tight, but it's not big which is what bass lovers usually want.

I think you're better off with a DT770 to be honest.

It's because you're a bass head.

The A900 is has quite a bit of bass.
Hell, I find quite a load of bass on the K501's. I have no idea why you people keep saying those don't have bass.

I noticed you have K81DJs, so how would you rate A900 bass compared to K81DJ?

Well some people claim that out of ipod A900 have more bass than DT770pro but when you add a proper amp DT770pro blows A900 away.

I am a real basshead (see my sig).

I've made some sessions with a friend's A900, and just felt like throwing my boomy DT770 away afterwards. The A900s were as fast as my K81, the bass quantity 90% of the DT770 (whereas the quality was much better). Didn't manage to find genres where the A900 didn't sound great.

Go for the A900, dude, you won't regret.
