What's the difference between those and the K712s?

Have a read around.

They're also both mentioned in MadLustyEnvy's guide.

The K612 is more linear, balanced, and natural sounding than the K712. The K712 is more comfortable, maybe slightly more refined, and a bit more bass and treble oriented. To be honest the K712 doesn't really sound better than the K612 so far, just different. People who prefer linearity and neutrality will likely prefer the K612 to the K712.

Good points..

How come the K712 cost twice as much or more than the K612?  Just asking..

Well after owning both for a while I can say the K712 does sound better overall, but preference and the system can determine which one prefers. The K712 shows it's superiority in terms of refinement, the K712 has more depth and layering to it's sound. It is an upgrade overall to the K612. The K612 has a somewhat grainier sound and is harder to drive but has a more natural tonal balance. The K612 is a better value without a doubt. I consider headphones like the K612 the point of diminishing returns.

I believe the K712 is more natural sounding than the K701 and K702, both of these old units were lacking the bass and sounded almost too bright, not a balanced sound in my opinion... The K712 with the 3db bass boost has now a more natural -speaker like- sound with just enough bass without having an over-emphasized low end response... Is almost as if you were listening to a pair of reference monitors, and they deliver nice detailed sound on all frequencies.

Anyway, everything is a matter of taste... I find the K712 pro really good at mixing and "mastering", although I prefer the K702 65th Anniversary Edition.
