Can anyone who has worn both the K702 and K701 comment on whether or not the K702 features noticeably softer 'bumps' under the self-adjusting headband than the K701 (the rock hard bumps of which made it a torture session to get through an album)...?

Which headphone is more comfortable?

Thanks in advance for replies...

I haven't worn the 702, and I think the 701 is really comfortable, so I might not be the best person to answer this, but as far as I know, the 701 and 702 are the exact same cans with different colors and the 702 has a detachable cable.

I wear my new K701's for hours at a time with no discomfort at all.

I haven't tried K702's as there don't seem to be any in the UK at a reasonable price.

They are Identical according to the official site...only that K702's cable is detachable and K701 is not...

I'm new to many hour K701 wearing, and I do think that the leather band digs a little after a few hours.

I'm hoping that it will break in over time. If not, it won't be too hard to put a little padding under there.

There are 7 bumps under K701 headband and there are 8 bumps under K702 headband, so pressure spreads more evenly under K702 headband, but still not as comfortable as K601 which has no bumps at all.

Making the odd number and even number will make alot of difference, there needs to be a crease at the center and the 701 didnt have that. Interesting, thanks.

Are you sure of thus? I know from your signature that you have a K702, so I don't want to sound rude doubting you - but from the pictures of the K702 on HeadRoom - Right Between Your Ears (at an angle where all the bumps are clearly visible) there are definitely 7 bumps on the underside of the K702 headband.

I never really paid attention to this detail, but now.. I just counted the bumps on my K702 - these are 7. They are different size. One of them is right in the middle of the headband and is clearly the largest one, the others are getting smaller thecloser they go to the end of the band. For me 702 lays a bit more comfy on the head compared to 701, but I cannot really tell if this is because the bumps are softer, or because the cord controlling the extension is looser.

So they still suck. How could they get the headband wrong again? Ever wonder why the 650 is recessed in the center of the headband? Moving them back is the opposite of what I found to aid comfort. Moving them forward after a couple of hours helped.

as a side question - are the ear-pads of the K702 the same 'screw-on' types as those of the K701 - and, can you put K701 pads on a K702?

I also saw on the official 'K702' that AKG has stated that the headband has been 'improved' - but the improvements are unclear - maybe it IS just that the bumps are softer

I can say from personal experience that this really isn't the case.

I agree 100%. The only way I can stand wearing the 701s at all is to attach padding under the headband. Also, the earpads press on my jaw. On the whole, they are highly uncomfortable to me.
