I am new here and have tried the 'search engine' looking for information on AKG 301 but there are less post about them...

I happen to have a chance getting this can for 2500yen (around 25 US dollar).

Anyone using this? Any opinion?

BTW this is a great forum and I have almost all my questions answered by just searching old posts!

there are two types of k301, one is the black one, just k301 and the other is k301xtra. xtra isn't very good but the black one, to me it's quite good. it has the sound signature like the k401/501. of course it isn't as good and refine. one note, i only heard xtra once and own the black one. and the black one, i don't know if i even have a break-in. i only got it out of curiosity. i guess i always use it's big brothers k400, k501 or k601 instead.

i forgot, assume it's in ok shape, 25 dollars is worth the money. by the amp, they need an amp. a good one.
