Hi, looking at AKG K240 and the K142, found them for $70 and $90 respectively on Amazon. I was just wondering if there was any major difference in the sound quality of the two that would make the K142 worth the $20 more than the K240 because $90 would be pushing my budget. Also if there are other headphones that are better than the AKGs in that same price range please let me know, but please nothing more expensive then $90 because that is pushing it for me. Thanks for anything that you can tell me.

I'm not sure why, but the K142 variants, as well as other lower-end AKG's are pretty unpopular here. I think that's strange because they're priced at the $70-100 sweetspot where most people can afford them. So I think you'll have a hard time finding someone who's heard both cans to tell you the sonic differences in detail.

If there's any audio stores nearby, you could probably get your hands on the K240 and see if you like them.
