AKG K240 Studio Review

I just bought these headphones, I had the AKG-100 for 18 years and was really happy with them so decided to stick with the brand.

Just wanted to mention the FREQUENCY RESPONSE:
AKG states that its 15hz to 25khz
I've run some tests, and on my speakers I can hear 20hz - 17khz but on these headphones the true frequency response is: 30hz - 16.5Khz
Just though some of you might want to know.

I'm curious as to what source you used to run the tests? What was driving them?

I've never measured it but curious as to whole chain, including DAC and amp. To my ears, they've always sounded rolled off in sub bass.

A simple sound generator from studio one 3 and also used a tool called ear doctor from the SoundGym website.

Have you had different results?

I have K240. I have been using this with LG V20 . But volume is kinda low compared to the actual driving capability of LG V20..
Did I get a defective one ?

Try the K240 on other output equipment. That will tell you.

I have a 25 year old K-240, and a recently purchased unit, simply to make sure I could still get the same model.

I generally use them on a Samsung tablet; the volume on both can go slightly into the uncomfortable, but not too high. If I plug either into my TV, I can drive them well into high, very uncomfortable volume. I would say my new unit plays about 10%-15% higher volume for the same output settings, but not higher.

I am getting a pair of K240 Studio this week and will report back on the pairing with my V20 (LG-H990).
The V20 SHOULD be able to drive them to decent levels based on their rated sensitivity of 104 dB SPL/V.

Hi all,

I bough my K240S about 1 year ago brand new and now I noticed that pads are really hard but I don't remember their condition from the box. Are they become harder with time? As far as I understand gold modification is out of production some years ago.

Has anyone tried the latest batches of the k240s and compare with an earlier copy? Just wondering if quality is still okay.
I got a k240 mkII earlier this year, the quality is fine. I had a Studio previously and the build quality is better with the Mk II. The plastic stickers on the Studio were applied all wonky, as if no one cared. Sound is the same.
