AKG K167 TIËSTO - Discussion, Impression, Review & Appreciation Thread

How did your k167 cans break? I might be getting this (or k267 depending on the reviews). My AKG k518 DJ died on me, and the on-ear was kind of a pain on my ear so I was looking for an over-ear replacement. This looked fine but I don't want it to break easily.

I had a little accident, but not exactly my fault. Anyways the fissure was there already, fabric defect.

Even if the K167 broke due to build quality, the K267 is aluminum, so hopefully no worries.  I believe the K267 comes out 1/17?

Yes, I got a SONY A865 with LOD to the C421 and in this case Clear Bass will work the same way because it's EQ, it's not hardware based. But the LOD gives more bass than the headphone out, so Clear Bass is not necessary.

Metal is one of my prefered genres with the K167's. Just brilliant a tiny bit EQ'ed in the mids though to bring them more forward.

Thanks! I don't really like EQing on the iTouch,as the built-in presets aren't great, and I don't like using a 3rd party player app to get at a custom EQ. I'm hoping the C4221 bass boost would help enough on its own. Great amp, btw. It really brings my hd25's to life (vs straight our of the iPod).

Ahh, but I'm seeing k267 reviews with isolation/leak problems. I would like a pair of great isolation and minimum leakage headphones. I would have to check k267 reviews again after 1/17 then, when more people could review it.

In that case the K167's would be a safer bet. But the K267's build quality is much better. Better wait for reviews.

Not sure if this has been posted, but the K167 is $156 with free shipping at bhphoto.com!

If the price dropped that low so fast, I think I'll be picking up a K267 if I see it for $250.

placed an order for these today so they should be coming sometime next week. it was a tough decision between these and the ue 6000s, but I'm hoping that these don't disappoint, particularly in the comfort factor.

What! tha'ts a noticable price drop. I haven't even received my headphones yet from B&H; Gonna request and see if they'll give me the difference. I ordered these on the 21st and just getting them tomorrow.

if they won't do anything. I'll try to return them and rebuy them (it'd cost probably like $4-6 shipping but it''d still be $20 less.

Yeah it was the price that had a good deal of influence as to my decision to get these, to be honest. I wonder why these are already going down so much in price. Weren't they released fairly recently?

Meanwhile in europe it still continues to sell for ~230 EUR ($300 USD), this large & popular european etailer for any sound related stuff which is usually fairly cheap sells it for as much as 245 EUR ($320)!! http://www.thomann.de/fi/akg_k167_tisto.htm >_<

For comparisions sake, let's look at for example Sony MDR-1R http://www.thomann.de/fi/sony_mdr_1rb.htm - 205 EUR ($265), that's fine concidering there's like 21% VAT included in that price, in US it goes for around $250 typically. What's up with AKG's european pricing!? Seems like they are doing the same what Beats did in US, exploit a really well known celebrity name around in europe to jack up the price.
