Okay so bluray movies through your PC? You don´t have the HDAV 1.3 deluxe or similar cards? Just so you know you won´t get the HD streams anyway unless you have such soundcards. It´s not as desperately needed for headphones hd audio is most beneficial for uncompressed surround audio.
If you watch through PC you will get acess to dolby headphone processing modes etc via software as mentioned.
If the budget is unlimited you could get the Pro 900 for example and some amp with nice soundstaging like the Heed Canamp. Maybe one of the cheaper HFI models would do but have no experience with those. I doubt they have the sweet mid range of the Pro 900 anyway.
The Canamp/900 combo gets to bassy for me though but maybe it works better for movies then for music? I surely enjoyed that on the 750 for movie watching so you could go with that combo.
I am sure there is amps with perhaps even better soundstaging but you seem to have to go up some 0s in $ to get that
If you go for the HD 650 Slee Solo is a better match. I have an older model which works well with pretty much all my headphones. But the soundstage surely shrinked compared to the Canamp somewhat. Another alternative is the Goldpoint headphone Pro also excellent. If you are in the US maybe cheaper then both Canamp and Slee Solo.
I would say the K701, I had the HD650's and absolutely hated the artificial bass that colored all the frequencies. The K701's literally gave me an adrenaline rush and I could not sleep that night. I later bought the DV3322 to go with them which has been painful with the Chinese tubes burning in but has started to really sweeten up. Now that I have Mullards, LM Ericcsons, and Svetlana's coming in I am expecting things to shine a good bit more.
