I'm thinking about replacing my 7 year old AKGs and not sure if I want to just buy same ones or try something else?
I mostly listen to 70s Rock, Jazz and solo piano/violin classical and want closed, well isolating headphones. Preferably < $200.

My lineage is FLAC->Foobar->coax SPDIF->DIY NOS DAC->DarkVoice 336i->AKG 271

Sorry, I just realized this is wrong forum, could mods move this to "headphones" section please?

Why are you replacing?

They have been used so much that pretty much everything is failing.
Pleather pads are crumbling, the inlays are gone. One side has a bit of tremble in lows. The cable died too but I fixed it. I figured that just replacing the pads will be $50 (for velour).

I also have 701s but they are open and not really for office use.
