With the AK120ii, be prepared for a serious lack of bass with these specific headsphones/IEMs, so if you enjoy at least some decent bass, the Kann will do a much better job.
But if you're after "reference"/flat/whatever they call it, go ahead with AK120ii.
Your taste.
Thanks for the replay, what do you mean with these headphones?

It sounds unusually warm. The sound creates a thick ambiance some may associate with sound stage. It doesn't sound normal, unusual compared to other AKs I've tried.

The dual DAC is really for balanced output.

For the AKs, balanced output has half of the impedance of single ended. The impedance could be what is causing the differences(if people are hearing differences) for people using iems.

Also, for full sized, balanced can ouput double the power, this can cause what people hear a difference.

Well, I think the AK120 II is better, because the dual dac.
This is no argument, just marketing.

I would choose Opus #1 over AK120ii ANY day of the week, despite the similar CL DAC. Unless WiFi/BT are mandatory.
Cheaper, better autonomy, better capacity, better soundstage, and at least some bass, but again, personal taste, I prefer slightly warm to flat.

And just to repeat myself, Kann is on the warm side, but nowhere as warm as first gen AK100/120, and nowhere as warm as Cayin i5/N5 (same dac as Kann). Warmer than FiiO X5iii (same dac as Kann, with dual config). So let's stop the dac nonsense, tuning >>> dac type.

In the end it's a question of point of view, Kann isn't "unusually' warm, unless your only references are AK100ii/120ii, which have among the flattest tuning to date.

Which iems are good around $500?
535 530TPH is one of them.
535 is one of best at mid and bass. The bass is much realistic and fast, good impact. For example, my kse1500 electrostatic have decay time longer than 535 when reproducing a short gun sound. Not regarding buget if compare 535 to 1500(which cost x6) 535 lose at treble and detail level. If you care for treble as a not so of 535 you can try 535 limited, as adv by shure, (I didnt own) it reach 19khz, while that of 535 is 18.5. I cant heard over 16khz, but 535 I feel treble extendend less than that of 1500

Thanks a lot, final question, will I need an amp with the AK120 II if it is used with ATH-MSR7, HE400i and Shure SE535?
