I know a guy with 30 something.

Get a 1911. I know I enjoy traveling half a day to visit my old Les Baer every now and then.

I want one of the Cooper commemorative Ed Browns, maybe just not the limited version, but the thing is just spec'd "right".

OK... I take it back.

Get 2 1911s.

One for you, one for pops. Just be careful to not shoot your eye out, per "A Christmas Story". Topical, no?

Get a Ruger 10/22 for $200 and 1000 rounds of .22 from wally world along with a 12 pack of Coors, and roast up some steaks on the BBQ.

But enough about my plans for New Years.

I would be so happy if my dad was into guns and hunting. Nothing can replace time spent with your dad. Audio can wait.

I'd say do it for your dad. You'll look back with a huge cringe on your face with lots and lots of remorse when he's gone. Make all the memories you can with him. Headphones won't get you that prize buck.

Everyone has pretty much said the same thing: go for the gun.

While I would personally urge you to not buy or receive a gun as a gift, it's for your father. My dad and I haven't always been on good terms, so any quality time you can spend with your father now is important.

He won't always be around.

Well men, I've made my decision, and it's a freaking beautiful one.

I got enough money from the extended family and what I had left to pay my dad the $599 for the headphones, and I'm getting a shotgun. Damn I like it when things work out.

Dang, that's awesome. I can't say that I'm much into shotguns, but it is always great when it works out for everyone.
