Hi members,

so far I plugged my Sennies directly into my Marantz PM-94 (a beast of a solid state integrated amp).
Due to the fact that I want to sell that amp and the rest of my gear I´m plannig to plug my Marantz CD-94 to a HPA.
BUT: Which one shall I buy???
New or used is equal to me.

Hi rescue diver,

Although I don't have a HD600, I have a HD580 (same drivers as yours, but less well matched) and a HD800. Of course I use the HD800 the most.

If you like DIY amps, I would recommend a M3 (that's what I use personnally), or for a smaller budget , a CK2III.
They will both drive easily your HD600.
IMHO, the M^3 is a very transparent amp, and results in an impressively natural sound when I use my HD800 and good recordings...
I have mine since a few months and love it!

Might try asking about amping the HD-600s on this thread.

check out the project ember. you can buy it prebuilt for just over $300. Has enough power even for he-6. can take a wide variety of tubes. has automatic biasing, heater selection and other features .

it might be right up your alley.

I'm on my phone at work so it's a little difficult however check out their website I believe it's garage1217.com

Also this is similar to the project sunrise and project horizon amps but works with a wider range of phones.

I can provide more links this evening when I'm home.

The Little Dot Mk III also works well (if you upgrade the driver tubes to Voskhods).

So far, the best match by far (to my ears) is the Audio-gd SA-31. This costs USD500, but if this is too much, you could consider a second-hand C-2, which sounds somewhat similar.

Ive got an Ember and a CKKIII and honestly, the Ember blows it away with my 650s. Just effortless power and really brings out the beautiful tone of the 650s. Plus, tube rolling is a lot easier since the Ember auto biases and automatically adjusts the voltage; plug and play is a nice luxury.

Is Ember better than Crack?

Can you elaborate on what you are looking for? e.g. price range, music you listen to, type of sound you enjoy etc. I'm not familiar with the Marantz PM-94s amp section
