I'd like to use a Grado RS-1 on a Darkvoice 332. The Grado is rated at 32 ohms, the DV is said to like much higher impedances. As a matter of fact the combo doesn’t really shine. While hiss is no problem the RS-1 just sounds better out of my portable amps, surprisingly even Headroom’s Airhead

. What I’m considering now is adding an adaptor with custom resistance to increase the load for the DV. Moon-Audio sells such an adapter, but I’d like to build one myself. My questions are:
a) Does such an adapter make sense? Will it improve the SQ?
If so: b) is it ok to use metal-film resistors (1% tolerance) rated at 10 Watts? (1 Watt may be enough but I have some 200 Ohms 10 Watts Vishays at hand that I could use.).
c) Am I correct that it’s a better idea to use two resistors in the two signal paths than one in the common ground or is it largely irrelevant?

Thanks for your input!
Urs
