I have some foam disks like these:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/253630736349

I use them on some headphones that I find to have harsh treble that I want to rein in a bit, just sandwich it in between the cup and the earpad. But I really doubt that this foam only exists in this form, as Sony XB500/700/1000 replacements.

Does anyone know what kind of foam this is, and if I can just buy a big sheet of it to cut out circles of any size I need? Thanks!

All I can say is that is with the current enthusiasm on head-fi with 3D printing headphone parts, it would be surprising if no-one was interested in bespoke implementations of acoustic foam.

I wonder if it would be worth checking out fabric shops that sell sewing supplies. I bet they have tons of foam options and probably have normal prices unlike stuff targeted at hifi people. You could probably get yards of various foams to try out.
