A500 VS sr125

The Grados sound is too "raw and thick" for me and sound only good in rock whereas the Audio Technica's will sound good in anything. Comfort is more important than you might think, personally Ive already return two good sounding headphones based on that factor alone including the SR-125.

i meant that 99$ is below my budget (110-140$).

i especially looking for good low F and good high F
for jazz al i need is good cans, I guess the sr-125 or A500 or MS-1 will do the job for me.

from what i understand, the A500 are my best choice?

for 100 bucks, A500 is probably among the top choices.... but for 140 dollars.. i dont know... there might be some other headphones around that price... try search or something... im sure you can find something...

one other headphones that i can suggest for consideration :

AKG 240S

to be honest with you, i havent really heard this headphone, thats why i cant make any comment about the sound characteristics or something...
but i read lots of positive feedback about this one, so you might wanna read a bit about it and see whether it fits your taste or not.

try to find post about that AKG or you might wanna make another thread about which headphones to decide... hehe...

but you need an amp to drive that AKG.

Let me tell you, the price is right for the MS-1s, and although the price is cheap, the cans aren't. They are comparable for phones over 100 bucks. Don't always follow the dollar - believe your ears! Or the recommendations of people who have actually heard these cans!

I've owned both SR-125 and A500, but not at the same time. I think both are great rock headphones, but prefer the more balanced Senn HD580 or AKG K240S for jazz. I would be happy with either one, but the A500 is more useful to me because it is closed.

I second that open vs closed thing. My MS-1s leak alot of sound, and take alot in- very open design. so if you are into isolation, get closed versus open. but for pure sound, i'm way happy with my MS-1s.

The MS1`s cost $99 but don`t let the price fool you, i hear the not only compare to SR 125, but beat it.
