A Statement To Our Valued Customers in the United States

You cope. Tired of all the whining from people who never said anything about the fact that China has had tariffs on the United States since they were first allowed to join in world trade. They are a communist/dictatorial country with horrendous crimes against humanity, and they steal everyone’s intellectual property and patents, including from their own companies, but none of that matters so long as you get your audio toys on the cheap.

Trump is doing what his spineless and mentally-impaired predecessor was incapable of doing.

-Yes, a significant number of Chinese billionaires and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) are indeed leaving China, driven by a combination of economic and political factors, according to reports and investment migration firms like Henley & Partners. The number of billionaires in China has decreased, and the country is expected to see a record exodus of high-net-worth individuals in 2024.

Reasons for the exodus:
  • Economic concerns:
Slowing growth, high youth unemployment, and a collapsing real estate market are major factors driving wealthy individuals to seek alternatives.

  • Political and social pressures:
Crackdowns on the private sector, including tech companies and financiers, and a tightening of political control are also pushing some to leave.

  • Restrictions on freedom and movement:
Concerns over the erosion of freedoms and the increasing difficulty of leaving the country are also contributing to the trend.-
Me when I’m lying.

Tariffs won’t bring back an FDR economy. Making iPhones in a factory in Iowa isn’t going to magically bring back the American dream of working in a factory and having that single income afford you a home and a shiny automobile.

We use subsidies to make CEO pockets fatter, China uses subsidies to make products more affordable and create massive and effective public infrastructure and social safety nets.

So again, cope harder.

Random edit: “record exodus expected in 2024” my brother in Christ do you know what year it is?

MFW when Americans put citizens and legal immigrants away by the tens of thousands in an overseas prison while preaching on one incident in Australia 😂😂.

My dad wasn't joking when he said that Grandma witnessed the British empire collapse, he saw the USSR collapse and I'll see the US collapse.

Your comment makes me really thankful that my parents decided not to settle in the USA in the early 90s as they both graduated from McGill University in Montreal and had offers from US businesses.

Maybe they or I would have been one of the non-white citizens dragged off to a hell-hole prison in El Salvador.

You're forgetting Extraordinary Rendition, Guantanamo, the WMD never found, the 100 plus coups incited by the CIA (the ones that we know of at least), killing of innocents under the guise of "collateral damage" from Cambodia in the 1970s to Afghanistan in the 2010s.

As someone who comes from a Petro family of 4 generations, you have no idea how much blood went into the gasoline you fill in your pick up truck but that's a story for another day.
Never said America was perfect. I have 3 generations of soldiers in my family. All governments have their evils. The American government deserves its share of criticism as well. But this thread is about tariffs…

So why were Chinese human rights part of your response? I know all about them, you don't need to educate me.

Maybe it's inconvenient when you have a few closets full of your own skeletons.

Now let me go outside for lunch in Australia where legal citizens and minorities aren't deported to a foreign prison on a dictators whim.

Looking forward to the soup de jour for this cool weather today.

Yes. And you brought up a random domestic issue in Australia. How is that relevant to tariffs either? This thread is specifically about tariffs affecting the audio industry and remained that way until someone came to whine about how they’re upset that we’re discussing tariffs and not a different economic crisis from 5 years ago.

You came into this thread hot and heavy about how great the tariffs will be while demeaning people in an AUDIO forum for being upset at potential price increases in the AUDIO industry. Shocking that a forum about audio gear will lament a trade war mainly being focused on potentially the largest manufacturer of audio gear and components. Read the room man.

No, you jackwagons came in here getting all political about a reciprocal tariff against a country that has had tariffs on American goods for decades and is a complete dictatorship. I dropped some truth and now you all are butthurt.
Oh man I’m sorry I didn’t mean to get political in this thread about a trade war potentially having irrevocable consequences on our hobby.

You don’t even live in America! Does Australia have tariffs on Chinese goods? Maybe you should worry about your own country’s economic policies.
Lmao I work in a factory in America dude. I am DEEPLY worried about my own country’s economic policies.

Because companies are raising prices all over the world to compensate for the US tariffs. Sony has already raised PS5 prices due to US tariffs and other companies are also joining the act.

Great job guys, really helps with inflation!

Nothing political here.

Limited targeted tariffs on China to spur domestic production is not what trump is doing. There’s a big disconnect between what trump supporters say is happening and what is actually happening. Also, being a huge POS to the rest of the planet (besides Russia, DPRK, and El Salvador) is weird and kinda evil.

Boo hoo. You can’t have your toys so cheap anymore because America is putting a tariff on a country who has had a tariff on us for decades.
Aight since you seem to be so upset by the concept of discussing audio prices in an audio forum. Here’s some news, everything is gonna get more expensive, not just “toys”. Kitchen appliances, home goods, consumer electronics, groceries, vehicles, etc.

Everything across the board will go up in price because next to nothing is made without at least some semblance of an international supply chain. Wages will almost certainly not go up to compensate because that would hurt the bottom line.

So please, explain to me, without mentioning China, how making everything more expensive helps anyone except the already ultra wealthy. Because you seem to be pretty bent on defending tariffs as a good thing. Explain how it’s good other than “China bad”. Because we can’t just magically bring back American manufacturing, and even if we do American CEOs aren’t gonna just decide with no incentive to start paying their employees a higher percentage of their revenue. The way I see it, tariffs hurt everyone across the globe, so please, go ahead, enlighten me on what I’m missing here. I literally work in manufacturing, and so far the tariffs have reduced orders, cut overtime, and led to bare minimum raises that have caused a serious moral decrease across the employees.

And America is putting a tariff on Australia despite the fact a free trade agreement has been in place between the two since 2005, nothing reciprocal about it.

No. You tell me why China has had tariffs against the US for decades and how it hasn’t helped them? Tell me why other countries have tariffs against other countries imports?

You near-sighted people are annoying. America didn’t invent tariffs and we’re not the only ones to do it. The only thing that has changed is that we’re not letting other countries rip us off anymore. So unless you’re going to dissect and explain every countries reasoning for having a tariff policy, shut up about America.
