Man ! I must have a defective keyboard because mine just made change for a dollar !

Nope. I have Korean and Thai keyboards and all have the '$' keys too. If I need to use a different currency symbol, it's either it has another separate key (for Korean) or I have to activate the "change language" of the keyboard (Thai).

I moved from the U.K. to Canada nearly two years ago now. I can talk Canadian politics for hours, I watch hockey, and most people don't even think I have an accent any more. However, I _still_ couldn't use a North American layout keyboard if you held a gun to my head. I need my " on the 2 key and my @ next to the :...weird, but true.

thats what I get with right alt 3: ¤ right alt 5 gives me €

I'm in the US, what am I doing posting here?!
