How long does the protective filter expire??
During listening, I realize that the performance is worse than at first
I have used for 4 months only...... does the protective filter matter?

q-Jays' filter is known to wear out quickly, you should change it to a new one if you detect any abnormal performance.

4 months sounds pretty good going. I've heard of people saying that the filters don't even last them a couple of weeks.

I do think the replacable filters in the q-Jays are a MASSIVE downside. They seem to muffled or dampened the sound for quite a few people fairly quickly and easily, and buying replacements direct from Jens (plus international postage) is expensive for what you're getting.

There are plenty of alternative quality IEMs which don't suffer the same problem.

I'll suggest switch to foam tips (which seem to prolong the filter lifespan) and clean your ears more regularly (and carefully I might add).
