A good friend of mine is considering the DT880, his sources will be either his Android phone or his Laptop, mostly OGG files at 192-320kbps. Since he has bad sources and he's on a budget, he needs something that's portable with a DAC that can double as a desktop amp (works while charging). He listens at really high volume, much more than I consider safe, at least for me. So he really needs something with lots of power to spare. He is willing to up to $250.
 
The only real options I can find with enough power either don't have a DAC or are not portable.

Wish I could pass a law that stops people from using 250-Ohm, 300-Ohm & 600-Ohm with portables.
 
Check out the Philips 1X/28 Fidelio, seems to have some great reviews and is only 30-Ohms.

I guess he could start off with a Fiio E12? No DAC but I think it might have enough power.

The Fiio E12 can easily power 250-Ohm DT880 headphones, or is he looking at the DT880 Premium 600-Ohm?
