Congrats, Hirsch!

It will be when I win that bet with you. Although the re-signing of Osgood don't look too good!

Can't wait for your impressions when you recieve yours and all the other headfiers.

In all seriousness, what headphone have I missed that I need to hear? Omega II? I've heard it a bunch of times, and like it, but do I really need one with everything else here? I've just about run out of high-end headphones to try. Well, I will get another amp for the HE90, but it's not urgent.

The HE90 is likely to become my favorite headphone, if it isn't already. It's got an effortless sound that I haven't heard out of any other headphone. The SRM-007t absolutely loves this headphone, which makes me really wonder what was going on in NY. I didn't hear anything like this with the HE90/007t combo there (and I haven't rolled tubes on the 007t since the meet). The 007t gets my vote as the most underestimated amp on Head-Fi (based mainly on its synergy with Sennheisers).

The HE90 here has bass. Lots of it, and it goes very deep. The image is starting to come together, but that's going to take some burn-in before it coheres completely. Tonally, there's nothing missing. This may be the only headphone that this is true of. There's a sense of natural ease that I've heard glimpses of when I've heard an HE90 at meets, but is asserting itself in a major way now that I've got one here. This is going to be fun.

Congratulations Hirsch! I'm sure you will have a great time with your HE90. Please post more impression when you have a chance.

Congrats Hirsch, those look amazing, and I bet they sound even better. You spoke of getting a new amp for them at some point, any specific ones you are looking at? Have a great time listening to them, I am really jealous.

The end of the journey? Just the start of another. Your amp, source, IC, power, etc. now needs to match up the Orpheus standards. Not sure if I should feel happy or sad for you.

Congrats, that's a very special piece of equipment you've got there.

That's just sick, Hirsch:

I have headphone envy, but only for the Orpheus, not the Swissphones

I hate you Hirsch, first a balanced Qualia/SDS-XLR rig, and now this... *weeps*

Seriously, congrats man. It may well be the end of the journey, headphones-wise anyway. Of course this still leaves amp experimentation, source experimentation, IC experimentation, etc etc ad infinitum

Congratulations Hirsch!

The end of the Journey? This might be well just another milestone. The biggest one to date? Let's hope the future is reserving us some nice surprises.

Besides, there are millions of sources/amps/cables waiting for you to combine them. We all know you have tried most of them already, though

I'm happy for you guys. Enjoy them in good health!

Exactly how I felt when I heard Wayne's HE90's out of my 007t from Guss2's Sony SCD1 at tyrion's summer meet, Hirsch. The 007t was very synergystic with the HE90's - almost as if Stax had designed for it. Either that, or the HE90's needs are the same as the Omega II's for power. Whatever it is, I agree that the 007t is wonderful with the HE90's, and that's what I'll be using for mine when they arrive (2nd batch, should ship around 10/15).
