A little overwhelmed

So, it is getting really bad. Used to be 4 hours, now it is like 3-10 min and it won't even play. :frowning2:

Contacted Schitt support again with all the various setups I have completed. And "yes" to @earmonger, room is well ventilated with nothing close to amp.

Edit: Headphones are fine btw. Work perfect in analog outputs from PC/Mac/Ipad with decreasing power in that order.

So, I've had my new amp/dac for 1 day now.
No static shocks, no overheating (but I did elevate it off table and have a fan running on it). Been listening for over 3 hours, no tics, no drops. used on the ipad and pc. Hopefully a good story. Schiit has been good through all of it.

Final update. Happy ending.

All is well.
No shock
No overheat
long listening

Schiit was great. Very responsive, quick crap, etc. Been over a month and zero issues. The switching between the ipad and pc with the usb switch is great as well.

Big thanks to all again.

I love open backs now by the way. I'm starting to dislike my sony 1000xm4s now that I used to love. Still convenient for bluetooth and wireless.

This final update for now sounds great. It did take $600, but you also made perfect use of your gift card and you have a nice setup that overachieves upon what you meant for it to do. The bi-directional usb 3.0 switch selector looks to manage your Windows and Apple iOS configurations well, so I can pass this recommendation to others. Also, if you can make it to Austin on July 21st-22nd, Schiit is having a free show with lots of headphones and probably speakers, so you can demo stuff and give your testimonial to their products and service. :) Announcement is here:

Thanks @pbui44 and @earmonger . Been a small journey, and rewarding, and you have helped a ton on my journey. I'm hearing more differences between my old and current setup. I wish July 21st was a weekend as opposed to a Thursday. My work schedule is hard to get away from. Maybe I can take a day off and make Friday :). It will be a stretch.

Side note, been exploring higher res streaming options. I did Qobuz and was disappointed by app and autoplay (lack of), not by quality of music (If you pick them all, quality is high). Recent Tidal subscription and seems ok at first, but still trying it out. Pandora has the best algorithm for new music and stations, but god bless america....the quality......they could kill it but they are giving it away to everyone else. Radio paradise is nice no non-sense. I work a lot, too much, so I depend on streaming to help me out when I'm not in meetings during the day and at night more so.

So, this is REALLY fun. I'm looking forward to the next step in quality, but equally enjoying my current setup. At first I couldn't tell much difference with my sonys and the ath. but now, I wish I saved my money on the sony's and dealt with the cord. Fun how we learn. Thanks again and sure there is more to come...

Actually, the show is July 22nd-23rd, which is a Friday and Saturday and looks better for your future plans. The sign-up link was posted in that link above.

Tidal now as a free ad-supported plan, so maybe you can switch over to that and keep whatever you like.

As for your Sonys...maybe you can find road warrior family or even someone at the show willing to buy it. The ATH-R70x will be very tough to beat with its best value for its sound, but there might be something that you will prefer with your most favorite genres. :)

Yeah. They have been pretty prompt and gave me a label for a return/exchange.

For what it's worth, faulty units happen to every manufacturer, but if comms are solid, that's a win right there :)
