A little overwhelmed

Just for future users to know: do you have a link to that kvm usb switch? You really stumped me on electronic devices and that has not happened in quite a while.
Will do once I buy it. I'm researching at the moment to make sure the KVM won't degrade and/or bypass the entire signal. Seems a lot of "phone" cables aren't equal. Some like the aforementioned "camera" usb are good, but others won't do sound, etc. For now, I'll get the amp/dac(replaceable btw) and figure out next steps. I can hear the "greatness" in these ath-r70x, but it isn't there off a pc motherboard. Already slightly better than a sony xm41000, but where can it go? From what I'm reading, only an amp can tell me. So $400 later, I hope to find out. If nothing, hopefully I can get 1/2 my money back. The journey...

Ok, so yeah...the amp (and dac) help!!!!!! Not so much sure about the dac's aid, but the amp for sure.

All these people online that say you don't need an amp...yeah I guess you don't, but if really want to enjoy it. Damn.

Big thanks to all here, especially @pbui44 and @earmonger

Also, I ordered this usb 3 kvm and this usb 3 camera adapter, so I'll let you know how the setup works.

Also, also, pleasantly surprised the dac usb is a usbc input. It is on their website, but I was expecting a usb b. Nothing wrong with b, just nice to be c as much more common now.

Glad to help -- there's good reason pbui44 and I are so enthusiastic about the ATH-R70X.

I've tried the ATH-R70X with an external DAC (an Astell&Kern AK70 player) in the chain, and it certainly doesn't hurt, but I couldn't really do any serious A/B testing with matched volume; too many variables. Improvement with the amplifier was immediately obvious; just feel that spaciousness.

The good thing is that since you now have a serious DAC, you'll never be dependent on the internals of whatever your next computer or music player is.

I’m not sure what is going on with the links. I posted both of mine from Amazon and one takes to Walmart. I got the one with the remote. I read it very clearly. Rather than post another odd link. Here is the description.

It all works like a champ
apple usb 3 camera with lighting power (via 5w iphone block charger)
the aforementioned bi-directional kvm with the remote is nice
--also comes with two usb 3 (shorter, which is good)
then a usb a (3) to a usb c to the asgard 3 dac.

Playing radioparadise on my pc
playing qobuz on my phone
hit the little remote button, pretty quick switch!

Need to figure out the cable management (neat freak), but other than that, works!

So, what is the next "quantum leap" in performance gain? What dollar amount am I looking at for HF and AMP/DAC? I'm not ready to switch, just wondering what next level is. I spend about $700 for this setup. Is next level $2000, $3000, etc?

Fun stuff.

So, I've had 2 long listening sessions now. I'm getting skipping/stuttering after 4+ hours of listening (typical for my work, not high volume, just casual). I've contacted Schiit, awaiting reply.

I wrote to Schitt customer service about 8 months ago and am still awaiting a reply. (Got some good advice here in the meantime.) Might be advisable to call them, or perhaps PM them here.

They replied pointing me to their website saying I need to move my wifi router, change usb cables, etc.

It is occurring on 4 devices.... PC, MBP, ipad and old mac book I have. :frowning2: But only after a long sessions...
