A little about the Shozy Alien

The hiss just drives me nuts. I know it doesn't bother a lot of people and I see why, but it bothers me for my musical preferences.

Anyone else on DAC capabilities? Is it impossible with the Alien?

I can hear it if I pay attention too.

i heard that adding a resistance adaptor can help with the hiss if it's an issue with the iem being too sensitive? I'm having this issue as well and it's very noticeable

About the hiss (if you can hear them)..just take it (positively) that you are listening to an analog vinyl player.
Screenless plus hiss..back to the good old vinyl days

I once owned an integrated UK amp named Exposure many many years back, which produced excellent sound but also high hiss even when idle.

The hiss levels vary depending on IEM impedance and sensitivity.

I cannot hear any with Rhapsodio RDB Mini hybrid, a negligible amount with Fidue A83 and unacceptable amount from DN-2000.

Depending on the recording, I notice some minor hiss with the DN-1000 and Altone 200, and none with the Titan.  Sorry to hear you get an "unacceptable" amount of hiss from the DN-2000, as I am contemplating getting that or the new DN-2000j for my next purchase.  Would you mind quantifying the amount of hiss compared to the DN-1000 or Altone?  Maybe I'll have to put the Fidue's in the running as well even though I dislike wearing over the ear and keep hearing about connector issues with those stock cables.

There's more hiss with DN-2000 than DN-1000 using Alien. I will need to try them for you tomorrow to give qaunity levels. I remember 1000 being 'ok'. I've been trying Alien with a few IEM lately, my Rhapsodio RDB Mini, Aurisonics ASG-2, Titan, I always end up back with A83 for the Shozy.

Some might remember I used my A83 with DX90 for a full week to see how I felt. You can read the outcome here.

I did read your post.  Kind of amazing that the Alien sounds so good compared to more expensive daps.  I know I haven't listened to my X5 much since getting the Alien.  I'll never sell my X5 though because it is nice to have that screen when you want to listen to a specific song or album.  The extra storage capacity comes in handy as well.  Sometimes convenience is king!

Back to the DN-2000, I just noticed that the impedance of them is 16Ω, and the upcoming DN-2000J supposedly has an impedance of just 8Ω with a sensitivity of 102dB.  This seems to imply more hiss with the Alien, which is unfortunate...
