good choice on getting a headphone w/out built in mic. These usually offer 'meh' quality. best to get a seperate logitech standpoint mic or sth.

oh didn't read your post thoroughly before. when that d10 cobra amp comes into play, screw the gaming headset and go for a real headphone like Sennheiser HD555

Sennheiser HD555 Open-Aire Stereo Headphones | PowerMax

$105

and a logitech USB Microphone

Amazon.com: Logitech USB Desktop Microphone (Black/Silver): Electronics

$20

yeah, it'll put you back 25 or 30 bucks, but you'll have a real decent quality headphone that is excellent for gaming/movies. For music, it's alright, nothing spectacular.

Try to find the Audio Technica AD700 for under $100. They sometimes pop up for under $80, which makes them a very bargain.

I am not certain about the AT but HD555s come with an adapter for 3.5mm. I use them with my PC and it works fine.

No you don't. Buy headphones and a mic separately. You'll get much more for your money.

Low end Audio-Technicas come with 3.5 jacks, and any and all separate mics (I recommend Zalman ZM-Mic 1, both that and AT AD700s can be found at Amazon cheaper than anywhere else) will come with 3.5 jacks unless you buy a professional mic.
